"Civil Rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., born in Atlanta, Gerogra in 1929, never backed down in his stand against racism. He dedicated his life to achieving equality and justice for all Americans of all colors. King believed that peaceful refusal to obey unjust law was the best way to bring about social change". https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/explore/history/martin-luther-king-jr/

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebrates the life and legacy of a man who brought hope and healing to America and the world. As Canadians, we also have a responsibility to commemorate the timeless values he has taught the world through his example — the values of courage, truth, justice, compassion, dignity, humility and service. On this day, we must commemorate the universal, unconditional love, forgiveness and nonviolence that empowered his revolutionary spirit. - Coretta Scott King
